A guest has already started a conversation, so the signup transition is part of that experience rather than a generic sales modal. Aggressive copy can make a clear usage boundary feel like a bait-and-switch.
The interface can state the 25-message device limit, distinguish guest storage from account continuity, and let the user choose. It should not imply that creating an account proves a stronger relationship or guarantees unlimited service.
What was actually going wrong
Vague “continue now” language hid what ended and what signup would preserve.
What I tried
- Using countdown pressure near the final guest message
- Promising permanent memory without explaining account storage
- Showing the signup request before stating the trial limit
The conversion message names the exhausted limit, explains account benefits plainly, and offers login or signup as a choice.
Why it worked
The next action follows from a disclosed product boundary rather than emotional pressure.
Companion products should be especially careful not to turn attachment into coercion.
Where EACI uses this today
Main guest onboarding describes trial and account continuity in direct language.
